Builders guild member Geoff Gibson Homes awarded the best Green Smart builder in state

At the 44th annual HIA Queensland Housing Awards, local Toowoomba builder Geoff Gibson was awarded the Queensland Green Smart Energy Efficiency Home of the Year for their 9-star display home the ‘Satori’ which was opened earlier this year in Hume Street, Toowoomba.

Mr Gibson said he was honoured to win such a prestigious award and to bring it home to Toowoomba.

“There are very few homes anywhere that can boast a 9-star energy rating, as well as being Green Smart accredited, with built-in adaptability features incorporated into the design,” Mr Gibson added.

“Being a design and construct builder gives us the opportunity to work closely with our clients to give them the most comfortable, cost efficient home we can, without compromising on materials and quality of workmanship,” Mr Gibson said.

“Winning would not have been possible without the support of my staff, our suppliers and our tradesmen,” Mr Gibson added.

Geoff has been in the building industry for 30 years and has spent the last 8 years researching Green Smart and energy efficiency so it was a great reward to have his display home recognised for his effort in these areas of expertise.

“We are always looking to learn new ways to improve our homes and keep moving towards a sustainable future,” said Mr Gibson.

This win automatically qualifies the ‘Satori’ to compete in the HIA Green Smart national finals in 2017.

This is Geoff Gibson Homes’ second Green Smart and energy efficient display home, their last being the 8-star ‘Phoenix’, also a National Finalist in 2011 HIA Green Smart Awards.

“Working out of the Satori makes my job much easier, with such an excellent display home to use as a yard stick. I can show and explain to people things we have included in the Satori, allowing them to experience the benefits they could achieve in their own homes,” Geoff Gibson’s sales manager Rick Tyrer said.

The Satori is also a great learning platform with about 100 students from The Glennie School, St. Ursula’s and St. Mary’s College touring the display home as part of their sustainability studies.

We look forward to continuing to keep Toowoomba at the leading edge of the home building industry in Queensland.
