The Avenues of Highfields Environmental Investment
Setting a new standard in urban amenity and street appeal, The Avenues of Highfields developers will invest $1,000,000 directly into the landscaping of the development over its ten stages of release.
Prior to construction works beginning, the site remained cleared farm land for many years, essentially offering a clean slate to allow planting of new trees.
During planning stages of the development, a comprehensive Tree Master Plan was developed in conjunction with one of Australia’s leading urban design agencies. The Tree Master Plan outlines a selection of trees that are more suitable for an urban environment, including White Silky Oaks, Flame Trees and Crimson Sentry Maples.
“We want to emulate the street appeal that is synonymous with East Toowoomba. A combination of advanced tree varieties will line every street within the development – a substantial investment well over that of similar developments in the region” project director Stephen Bowers said.
A total of 1,500 trees are being grown with internationally acclaimed local grower Emaho Trees. These advanced trees will be rehomed by The Avenues developers throughout all ten stages of the development, with eighty trees having already been planted along the footpaths of the completed Stage 1. A further 4,000 plants and shrubs will also be planted throughout the two parks located within the development.
Renowned Highfields businessman and project developer Mac Stirling says the investment being made by The Avenues of Highfields is unlike any other he has seen in the region.
“We are building so much more than your standard sub-division. The sheer investment made in the street landscaping, parklands, facilities and design aesthetics is setting a new standard of housing development in the Highfields area and is really a testament to our underlying objective to create a community within our region” Mr Stirling said.
In addition to the 5,500 trees, shrubs and plants being planted, it is hoped that future residents will continue the beautification of the development, by taking advantage of the quality red soil and planting their own gardens – a well-known feature of the local region.
