With heightened levels of infrastructure and investment being made into the Highfields area, it is no surprise the township remains above the state average growth rate of 1.4% for the same period.

“Regional growth has been on the incline in Highfields for some time and the influx of development and infrastructure to the area is a direct indication of this” Highfields developer Mac Stirling said.

Highfields recorded a 2.5% increase – representing a total of 12,817 persons coming to the area in the 2015 and 2016 year.

Approved developments within the Highfields area across both the commercial and residential sectors specifically remain, including child care centres, shopping centre expansions, Toowoomba Regional Councils’ Highfields Sports Park redevelopment project and the expansion of Borneo Barracks at Cabarlah.

“Supply and demand continues to introduce new economic benefits to Highfields residents, including retail investment, educational, sports and recreational and of course residential housing opportunities for our expanding community” Mr Stirling added.

While families, professional couples and retirees are ear-marking the area as a lifestyle alternative to suburban living.

“Understanding the influx of residents into the Highfields suburb was a direct indicator for our development – where we are aiming to provide a suitable solution that complimented the communities stand point and allow for further progression” The Avenues of Highfields project development manager Stephen Bowers said.

“The Avenues of Highfields will welcome some 1,650 residents upon completion of its 10 stages – representing over 180 full time employee opportunities throughout the Toowoomba and broader economy as well as a $35 million economic injection” Mr Bowers added.
